After much time at the bargaining table and the potential for a strike, bargaining members for Unifor at six Great Canadian Gaming Corporation Casinos, including Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands, have reached a tentative agreement. Unifor members met this week in Toronto, to discuss, wages, pensions, benefits and employers reliance on part time jobs. Assistant to the President of Unifor Chris MacDonald said in a statement, that “It has been a very difficult period for casino workers and these tentative agreements are a step in the right direction.” Members of Unifor at Pickering Casino and Ajax Casino are still trying to reach an agreement and are on strike until further notice. Unifor members say details on the tentative agreement will be released this week following the membership ratification votes. We here at myFM will have further updates when they come available.
