The Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is reminding residents that COVID-19 is still in our communities.
Dr. Linna Li, our medical officer of health tells us that numbers on their weekly report remain low.
Li tells us its probably going to be with us for a while.
There are a number of factors in play, including one that we’re quite familiar with.
Another question they’re trying to determine is if surges will be seasonal, like they are with the flu. We have seen cases rise in the winter, but that’s because we’re not outside enjoying wide open spaces.
She also notes that the 32 high risk cases reported in this week’s report are likely only a fraction of actual cases, as not everyone showing symptoms are eligible for PCR testing. .
