Six generations of farming and Scott Modler continues to work early mornings and late nights at Mount Airy Holsteins in the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands.
A typical day on the family farm begins at about 5am but Modler adds that he loves the business and knows that staying dedicated makes it successful.
When asked what advice he would have for someone looking to start their own dairy farm, Modler added “be prepared to work”, stating the fact that this business is 7 days a week with no time off for vacation or weekends.
He says working with the animals and working outdoors is something that makes him enjoy farming the most.
He especially enjoys the fact that he gets to be home with the family and work alongside of them everyday of the week.
