South Frontenac swore in their newest Councillor last night, Adam Turcotte who represents the Bedford District.
He replaces Charlene Godfrey who stepped down in December, citing personal circumstances.
Council declared a vacant seat and chose to appoint the candidate who received the third highest number of votes in the 2022 Municipal election.
Turcotte moved to South Frontenac from Kingston in 2011, and runs a carpentry business specializing in heritage and sustainable carpentry, including cordwood and straw bale construction.
He has an interest in climate change and its local effects, advocating for building resilience in communities.South Frontenac Council approved creating a Climate Change Action Plan in 2024 at its January 9 meeting.
Turcotte emphasizes concerns as a parent for the future world his children will inherit, aiming to contribute positively to his community for their sake.
