The Ontario Government announced yesterday some good news for those aged 55 plus.
MPP for Leeds Grenville Rideau Lakes and Thousand Islands Steve Clark announced that applications are now open for the Senior Community Grant Program.
Every year the program provides $1000 to $25,000 in grants, that allows community groups to offer a wide variety of activities for Seniors.
Around 6 million dollars in funding was distributed among 280 Senior Grants in 2023-2024.
Activities and services supported by the program include:
• fitness and nutrition classes to keep adults aged 55+ active, healthy, and socially
connected to their communities
• opportunities for community engagement to reduce social isolation and increase
volunteerism
• increasing access to information and supports for health prevention and
promotion
