Gananoque traffic stop leads to weapons, drugs, cash seized – five face serious charges

A significant operation targeting drugs and weapons in Gananoque culminated in the apprehension of five individuals, each now facing a multitude of charges.

On February 27th, Gananoque Police initiated a traffic stop, leading to an extensive investigation. During the stop, it was revealed that two passengers had outstanding warrants in other jurisdictions.

Law enforcement seized a substantial quantity of illicit substances, specifically 483 grams of fentanyl valued at over $100,000, along with a pistol grip tactical shotgun.

All five individuals, including a 28-year-old female from Gananoque, were detained pending a bail hearing.

As a consequence of the operation, the following charges have been filed:

  1. A 39-year-old male from Sudbury faces charges including:
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
    • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine
  2. A 37-year-old female from Timmins has been charged with:
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
    • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  3. A 40-year-old male from Sudbury has been charged with:
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
    • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
    • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  4. A 29-year-old female from Sudbury has been charged with:
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
    • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  5. Lastly, a 28-year-old female from Gananoque was charged with:
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking
    • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
    • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
    • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
