Ontario Provincial Police Boards across the province are merging in to a more regional approach.
In our listening area, governance and procedure documentation is currently in the works by the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands for the Operation of the Leeds County OPP Detachment Board.
Leeds OPP currently services, Athens, Elizabethtown-Kitley, Front of Yonge, Frontenac Islands, Leeds and Thousand Islands, Rideau Lakes and Westport.
The new board will consist of a representative from each municipality, plus two residents of the area and two province chosen appointees.
Any existing OPP boards within that geographical area will be dissolved.
