Gas prices in Gananoque and along the St. Lawrence Seaway are set to increase to levels not seen since August of 2022, when more of the country eased pandemic restrictions.
Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague predicts that prices in our listening area will jump a whopping 14 cents per litre, not only here but clear cross the province.
That would be fuel at about $1.80 per litre in some spots. As of this Wednesday morning some stations in Gananoque were selling fuel for as high as 1:66 per litre.
McTeague is blaming weakness in the Canadian dollar and the annual switch by refineries to the more expensive summer-blend gasoline.
The increase also follows the Federal Carbon Tax hike which has already added another 3 cents per litre in local pumps.
