
Three people are dead following a boating accident that took place over the Victoria Day long weekend. Frontenac County OPP say on May 18th at around 9:30pm, the collision took place between a speed boat and a fishing boat on Bob’s Lake north of Kingston.
A 21 year old female from South Frontenac, a 22 year old female from Elginburg and a 23 year old South Frontenac Township male were all pronounced deceased in the incident.
Members of the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, other OPP units, South Frontenac Fire and Rescue, Central Frontenac Fire and Rescue and Frontenac Paramedics responded to scene.
Police and firefighters had boats in the water to search for and recover victims. Five others aged 21-44 were transported to Kingston General Hospital for a wide range of injuries. One was transported by Air Ornge due to the severity of their injuries, while others involved, were checked at the scene by paramedics.
The investigation is ongoing by Frontenac OPP with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
