
Members of the OPP Emergency Street Crime Unit, along with the OPP Tactics and Resce Unit, Forensic Identification and members of the Grenville County OPP, executed a search warrant on May 31st at a residence on Walker Street in Prescott. Officers located a quantity of drugs, which included around 25 grams of crack cocaine and other items associated with drug trafficking. Numerous firearms were seized, many of which were possibly taken during recent thefts in Augusta Township. Many of the weapons had the serial umbers removed. One person was arrested at the scene and another was arrested at another location in Prescott.
Paige FRANCOIS, age 23 and Christopher JACQUES, age 33, both residents of Prescott, have each been charged with:
Unauthorized possession of a firearm – eight counts
Possession of a firearm obtained by crime – eight counts
Tampering with the serial number of a firearm – six counts
Breach of firearms regulations-store firearm or restricted weapon – eight counts
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Both of the accused were remanded in custody until a scheduled appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville next week.
