The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is teaming up with local veterinarians and municipalities to offer low-cost rabies vaccination clinics on September 11. These clinics aim to provide affordable rabies vaccinations to pets across the region, helping to prevent the spread of this deadly disease.
Due to capacity limitations since the pandemic, not all veterinarians can participate, so some areas may not have clinics this year. To find the nearest clinic, pet owners are encouraged to call 1-800-660-5853 or visit the Health Unit’s website. Vaccinations cost $25 (cash only), and pets must be leashed or in carriers.
Dr. Linna Li, Medical Officer of Health, expressed gratitude to local partners for their ongoing support. The Health Unit hopes to vaccinate as many cats and dogs as possible, reducing the risk of rabies transmission to humans.
