A 55-year-old Ottawa man, was charged with ten offences following a high-speed, multi-jurisdictional driving incident.
Leeds County OPP, along with Belleville Police Service and Quinte West OPP, were called to assist in locating the accused on September 2nd, who was reported to have dangerously overtaken vehicles, including on the shoulders of Highway 401, and nearly struck firefighters in Belleville.
The driver refused to cooperate with police, was eventually arrested without incident.
He faces charges including Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle, Flight from Peace Officer, Impaired Operation by Alcohol and Drugs, and multiple violations of the Cannabis Control and Tobacco Tax Acts.
Robert K. Smith has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Brockville court later this month.
