The OPP has charged a Lansdowne-based construction company and its owner in connection with a fraud investigation dating back to 2019.
The investigation was initially reported to the Brockville Police Service (BPS), which later requested the OPP take over due to potential conflicts of interest.
In 2020, the OPP’s Anti-Rackets Branch (ARB) – Economic Crimes and Corruption Unit (ECCU – Ottawa) was assigned to the case, which involves a private construction project in Brockville.
As a result of the investigation, 43-year-old Paul Robert Hunter and his company, Paul Hunter Construction face charges of fraud over $5,000, using a forged document, and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
The accused and the company are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on October 1st. The OPP has declined to provide further details to protect the integrity of the investigation and upcoming court proceedings.
