Donald Musselman, a 24-year-old inmate at Joyceville Institution, died while in custody on October 15th. Musselman had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder since May 21, 2024. Correctional Service Canada (CSC) has notified his next of kin regarding his death.
As is standard procedure in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will conduct an internal review to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. In addition to CSC’s review, both the police and the coroner have been notified and will carry out their own independent investigations.
The details surrounding Musselman’s death remain undisclosed, and further information will be provided as the investigation progresses. Joyceville Institution, located near Kingston, Ontario, is one of several federal correctional facilities operated by CSC, responsible for managing medium-security inmates in Canada.
