
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) conducted a drug trafficking investigation in Athens, leading to significant seizures on October 24th.
With assistance from the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators, and a Critical Incident Commander, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Wiltse Street. They seized over 100 grams of suspected crack cocaine, more than 12 grams of suspected cocaine, and various quantities of MDMA, oxycodone, and hydromorphone.
Additionally, a sawed-off shotgun, a .22-calibre rifle, ammunition, and over $1,000 in cash were confiscated, along with items linked to drug trafficking.
Two individuals were arrested at the scene: 54-year-old Darren Warren and 62-year-old Cheryle Warren, both from Athens.
They face multiple charges, including possession of a Schedule 1 substance for trafficking and firearm-related offenses. Darren is set for a bail hearing, while Cheryle will appear in court on November 22nd.
