Six health-care organizations in southeastern Ontario have launched Lumeo, a new health information system that will securely share electronic medical records across the region. Serving 650,000 people, Lumeo provides timely access to test results, health histories, appointments, and more. Developed by Brockville General Hospital, Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Lennox and Addington County General Hospital, and other regional health organizations, the system aims to improve care efficiency and patient experience.
Lumeo offers many benefits, including secure access to records across six partner organizations and a HealtheLife patient portal, launching mid-2025. Leon Goonaratne, Lumeo Regional VP, emphasized the years of work and dedication from teams who made this milestone possible.
While staff adapt to the new system, the public is asked for patience. Emergency services remain unchanged, and non-urgent health services are still available at local community health centers. Goonaratne expressed gratitude for the support of both staff and the communities in enhancing healthcare across the region.
