Correctional Service Canada (CSC) has reported the seizure of contraband and unauthorized items at Collins Bay Institution on January 22, 2025. The multi-level security federal institution intercepted a package due to the vigilance of staff members.
The seized items included tobacco, marijuana, ecstasy, fentanyl, and a cell phone, with an estimated institutional value of $239,310. The CSC continues to implement strict security measures to prevent the entry of illegal substances into correctional facilities.
To combat contraband smuggling, CSC employs various tools, including ion scanners and drug-detecting dogs, to search buildings, property, inmates, and visitors. The organization remains committed to maintaining institutional safety and security.
CSC encourages the public to report any information related to contraband trafficking in correctional facilities. Reports can be made anonymously via the institution’s tip line or through Crime Stoppers. Efforts to disrupt contraband flow help protect staff, inmates, and the overall correctional environment.
