Starting April 1, 2025, the Town of Gananoque’s Blue Box Recycling program will transition to full producer responsibility, with Emterra Group taking over the collection. Under this new regulation, producers who supply packaging and paper to Ontario consumers will be fully responsible for the financial and operational aspects of recycling their products at the end of life.
While the change will not affect the types of materials you can recycle, it will impact your collection day. Beginning March 31, collections will move forward by one day. If your collection day is currently Monday, it will shift to Tuesday, and if it’s Thursday, it will now be on Friday. The revised collection schedule will be reflected in your digital calendar soon.
Please note, this change does not affect garbage collection, which will remain on the same schedule.
