St. Lawrence College has reversed its decision to rename its Brockville and Cornwall campuses as “Learning Centres.” Less than a month after the change was announced, the school confirmed both locations will once again be called campuses.
The move comes after employee engagement sessions were held at both sites. College officials say feedback from staff played a key role in the decision.
Leeds-Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark welcomed the reversal. He had criticized the rebranding as unnecessary and confusing for the community.
The original name change sparked concern among students, staff, and local leaders. Many felt the “Learning Centre” label downplayed the importance of the schools.
Now, with the campus names restored, St. Lawrence College hopes to move forward without further disruptions. Students and staff in Brockville and Cornwall can continue to refer to their schools as full-fledged campuses once again.
