A high-speed traffic stop on Highway 15 led to impaired driving and dangerous operation charges for a South Frontenac man.
Just after 11:30 p.m. on April 18, 2025, a Frontenac OPP officer clocked a vehicle travelling at 157 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. After stopping the vehicle, the officer administered an Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) test, which indicated the driver was impaired.
47 year old Freddy Shorts was arrested and taken to the detachment for further breath testing. He is charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), dangerous driving, and stunt driving for excessive speed.
Shorts was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on May 13, 2025. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days, with additional penalties for the stunt driving offence.
Police remind drivers to plan a safe ride home.
