Michael Barrett, Member of Parliament for Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands—Rideau Lakes, was officially sworn in for his fourth consecutive term, joined by family and members of his team. Barrett expressed his commitment to representing the community and advancing local priorities.
“It’s an honour to continue the important work of representing our community, of being the voice of our community in the House of Commons, and working to secure affordability, safety, and the promise of a bright future for everyone,” said Barrett.
Barrett was reappointed as Shadow Minister for Ethics and Accountable Government by Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre, continuing his efforts to hold the government accountable.
“I’m proud of the work that we’ve been able to do to identify opportunities for real savings for Canadians, to identify areas where there has been misuse of Canadians’ tax dollars, and to seek accountability from the government to recover those public funds,” he added.
Looking ahead, Barrett aims to support economic policies benefiting key local industries and secure funding for projects such as County Road 43, the Alaine Chartrand Community Centre, and rural broadband. He also plans to collaborate with municipal governments and his provincial counterpart, MPP Steve Clark, on issues including addictions, homelessness, and public safety.
“I’m deeply passionate about serving our community—improving the lives of the people who call it home, and building on the work of the tremendous local leaders who make a difference every day,” Barrett said.
