
June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity and reflect on the challenges 2SLGBT+ individuals still face.
Dr. Linna Li, Deputy Medical Officer of Health for the South East Health Unit, says Pride is not just a celebration — it’s a public health issue.
She says gender identity and sexual orientation can directly or indirectly affect a person’s health. From barriers to health care and housing to increased risk of violence and mental illness, discrimination has lasting effects.
