The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands is officially transitioning its Blue Box recycling program to the new Producer Responsibility Framework under Circular Materials. This change affects both curbside pickup and waste disposal site operations across the township.
In the Village of Lansdowne, Emterra Environmental Inc. is now handling curbside pickup of recycling and household garbage. Residents will notice white Emterra-branded recycling trucks. Collection takes place every Monday, or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday.
Recyclables must be sorted properly: plastics, metal, aluminum, and glass should be placed in transparent bags, while paper and cardboard must be flattened and tied or placed in a separate clear bag.
At the Township Waste Disposal Site, Emterra has introduced new signage and collection bins. Users should continue separating paper from other recyclables like beverage containers, plastics, metals, and glass.
For missed collections or bin replacements, residents can contact Emterra at customercareont@emterra.ca or 1-888-597-1541.
