Canada Day is Tuesday, July 1, and many local services will be closed or have modified hours. City, provincial, and federal government offices will be closed, along with LCBOs and Beer Stores. Some convenience stores may still carry beer and pre-mixed drinks. Select grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants may remain open—residents are encouraged to check hours locally.
In Gananoque, Town Hall will be closed on July 1, reopening Wednesday, July 2, at 8:30 a.m. However, the Gananoque & 1000 Islands Visitor Centre will stay open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with public washrooms available on-site. Waste and recycling pickup scheduled for Tuesday will be delayed to Wednesday. Friday collection remains unchanged.
In the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, the Township Office and all waste sites—Lansdowne, Lyndhurst, and Escott—will be closed on Canada Day. To accommodate the closure, sites will be open Saturday, June 28, with Lansdowne and Lyndhurst also open Monday, June 30. Regular hours resume July 2.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy local Canada Day celebrations, including events in Seeley’s Bay, and to visit the Township’s Community Events Calendar for full details. Municipalities wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
