Also Saturday night Bobby Herrington claimed his 2nd Sportsman win of the year Josh Verne Jr. took his third straight Crate Sprint Car win while Bard Taillon won the Street Stock race and Kyle Kudrinko won the Novice Sportsman event. Full race report can be found below.
Rycon Electrical and the fans at the Brockville Ontario Speedway were treated to some exciting racing this past Saturday night in all five divisions. Despite a small shower that passed through the area, it never stopped the action all evening.
Josh Verne Jr. has been the driver to beat in the Surprenant Truck Shop Crate Sprints in 2025. Verne battled early pace setter Cam McKinnon in the early stages before taking the lead on lap 6 with Adam Turner and Lee Ladouceur right there with him. Once in front Verne drove away while Turner and Ladouceur staged a great battle for the runner up spot. As the laps clicked off and Verne well in control, the battle was on for the second spot as Ladouceur got by Adam Turner, but would not have time to catch the leader. As he has done the last two weeks, Josh Verne Jr. was unstoppable, scoring his third straight win with Ladouceur second, Adam Tuner finished third while Cam McKinnon and Guy Gosselin completed the top 5.
Lee Ladouceur would have a quick turn around as he hoped right into his 358 Modified minutes later and would lead the early laps of the 30 lap DIRTcar 358 Modified feature, with Kalen Draper and Kyle Dingwall there to challenge. Ladouceur had the high lane working well but Kalen Draper was right there with him and made a charge to the lead just past the half way point with Dingwall taking the runner up spot. Kalen Draper was on cruise control and pulling away from the field in search of his first win of the year while Dingwall and older brother Tristan Draper had their own battle for second. On lap 24 Kyle Dingwall used a restart to take control of the race leaving Kalen to battle with Cornwall native Ryan Stabler for the runner up spot. Once in front Dingwall was hooked up and would march on to his 23rd career win at Brockville tying him with Marcel Lafrance and Bob McCreadie on the all time win list. Tristan Draper would charge to second at the line over Ryan Stabler, Kalen Draper and Jarrett Herbison.
Tyler Stewart looked strong at the beginning of the 25 lap DIRTcar Sportsman feature, leading the opening laps with Michael Dillon and Blake Smith on his back bumper. It wasn’t long before four time track champion Bobby Herrington made his way forward. Herrington used the bottom lane to take second from Dillon then sailed by Stewart to take control on lap 9. Behind him some of the other top drivers in the points started to move forward. Points leader Gavin Eisele used the bottom lane to get to the third spot, however Jessica Power was on the charge as well making her way past both drivers to move into second on lap 16, but both drivers had plenty of work to do to catch the leader. Over the remaining laps Bobby Herrington built up a big lead on the rest of the field leaving Power and Eisele to battle for the runner up position the rest of the night. In the end, Herrington would go unchallenged in the remaining laps to secure his second win of the year and 36th career DIRTcar Sportsman win at Brockville. Power finished a season best second over Eisele, Xavier Andrews and Tyler Stewart
In the 15 lap Street Stock feature Brad Taillon grabbed the lead from early leader Kyle Massey and looked to be the dominant driver as he drove away in the early laps. Taillon had the car to beat on this night but on lap 10 Francis Gauthier, who was running up front, spun off turn 4 giving Cole McKeown and the rest of the field one last shot at the win. On the restart McKeown gave Taillon everything he had as the top two exchanged some paint during the final laps. In the end Brad Taillon had just enough to hold on to secure his first Brockville Street Stock win. McKeown came on up one spot short of the win with a runner up finish, while Mike Schonauer, Kyle Massey and Sylvain Gauthier completed the top 5.
The night concluded with a 12 lap Novice Sportsman feature and Damien King set the pace early with Tessa Riemersma and new comer Shaun Lafave right there to challenge. On lap 4 King and Lafave both tangled in turn 3 to bring out the yellow. This left Kyle Kudrinko in command over Riemersma and Nicholas Mainville. Over the final laps Kudrinko was the dominant car and would drive away to finally secure his first career win. Riemersma would cross in second with Damien King, Nicholas Mainville and Cole Hanna the top 5.
Next week another full show is on hand as the Mini Stocks return for a special series race, which will feature cars from the Cornwall Motor Speedway. DIRTcar 358 Modified, DIRTcar Sportsman, Novice Sportsman and Surprenant Truck Shop Crate Sprints will all be on hand. The green flag drops at 7pm.
