The Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands will hold its Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Lansdowne Council Chambers. Residents and interested parties can register in advance to participate via webinar and will receive joining details upon registration. Those wishing to speak during the meeting can use the “raise hand” feature when invited by the Chair.
The meeting will begin with a land acknowledgement honouring the traditional territory of the Algonquin, Mississaugas, Mohawk (Kanyen’keha:ka), and Huron-Wendat peoples, recognizing the Township’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. The agenda includes several key items for discussion and decision.
Among the highlights are the standardization of community hall spaces and services, with staff seeking Council direction on the best option moving forward. The Committee will also consider a Temporary Borrowing By-law to allow the municipality to borrow funds when necessary. Additionally, approval is sought to vest a failed tax sale property to the municipality and write off outstanding taxes totaling over $11,000.
Further business includes appointing Steven Miller as Deputy Chief Building Official, and adopting an Unopened Road Allowance Policy. The meeting also features updates on fire services and a milestone recognition program.
