The Town of Gananoque has issued a service disruption notice for Joel Stone Beach due to elevated levels of E. coli in the water. Following testing by the local health unit, cautionary signage has been posted, advising visitors to use the beach at their own risk.
The splash pad and public washrooms remain open. The splash pad, located at 135 Water Street, operates daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while the washrooms are available from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The disruption began on July 11, and an end date is currently unknown. Officials will continue monitoring the water in coordination with the health unit and provide updates as needed.
Joel Stone Beach is one of 24 local beaches tested weekly throughout the summer, with results posted every Friday at healthunit.org.
The Town thanks residents and visitors for their patience and understanding.
