Council in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands has approved the distribution of $24,050.25 through the Private Road Grant (Capital Stream) program. The funding supports improvements to privately maintained roads, with grants covering 50% of approved project costs, up to a maximum of $5,000 per application.
This year’s funding will help enhance access to 231 homes located on private roads across the Township. The upgrades benefit not only homeowners and their visitors but also ensure improved access for emergency services.
The Private Road Grant program is part of the Township’s continued commitment to supporting rural infrastructure and improving safety and accessibility in hard-to-reach areas. Council encourages eligible road associations and residents to apply in future rounds to help maintain safe and passable roadways throughout the municipality.
