Gananoque Town Council has agreed in principle to accept up to 49 Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) spaces.
The decision aims to expand local childcare availability and support families in the community.
Council passed a motion directing staff to notify the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (UCLG) and YMCA staff about the plan.
Additionally, Council will approve a by-law to extend the contract with Bell & Associates for architectural services related to the expansion of daycare facilities at 400 Stone Street North.
The new spaces are expected to be ready by December 31, 2026.
This development reflects Gananoque’s commitment to enhancing early childhood education and care options, addressing growing demand and contributing to the town’s ongoing community development efforts.
