Gananoque Town Council has approved a motion directing staff to contract a consulting engineer to conduct a structural and mechanical analysis of the Water Street Swing Bridge. This assessment will help determine the bridge’s current condition and any necessary repairs or upgrades to ensure safety and longevity.
In addition, Council plans to introduce a by-law amendment to reduce the speed limit on the Water Street Swing Bridge and its approaches from 50 km/h to 25 km/h. The reduced speed limit aims to enhance safety for all users while the bridge undergoes evaluation and potential maintenance.
