Gananoque Police Service responded to a report of intimate partner violence on July 21st. According to police, the victim had been headbutted, slapped, threatened, and had coffee thrown on them before the suspect fled the scene.
Following an investigation, a 48-year-old from Joyceville was arrested and charged with assault – spousal, assault with a weapon – spousal, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – spousal. The individual was held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing.
Police emphasize that incidents of domestic violence are taken seriously and encourage victims or witnesses to come forward. Support services are available to assist those affected by intimate partner violence.
