The Gananoque Fire Service recently welcomed Angie Atkins and her family for a special presentation recognizing the heroic efforts of local firefighters. Atkins, a community member whose life was saved during a cardiac arrest, presented Life-Saving Awards to Deputy Fire Chief Andrew Kent, Captain Kevin Conway, CSO Dillon Champagne, and Firefighter Alan Smith.
The award, known as the Cardiac Arrest Life Saving Pin, is given to first responders who treat patients in cardiac arrest who then recover well enough to be discharged from the hospital. The ceremony was especially meaningful as Atkins, whose life was directly impacted by their actions, personally presented the pins.
Operating under the direction of Fire Chief Andrew Dickson, the team’s coordinated response ultimately saved Atkins’ life. The event celebrated not only the firefighters’ skill and dedication but also Atkins’ resilience and recovery.
The Gananoque Fire Service encourages the community to congratulate these members and thank Atkins and her family for sharing in this inspiring moment.
