United Way Leeds and Grenville says its Urgent Needs Fund has run dry as community demand triples over last year. The fund provides emergency financial help to households at risk of homelessness when no other supports are available.
So far in 2025, more than $25,000 has gone directly to helping people stay housed, employed, and stable. The charity says the fund is a lifeline for families facing sudden job loss, medical expenses, or rising housing costs.
An anonymous donor has pledged to match all contributions dollar for dollar up to $7,500, doubling the impact of each gift. United Way officials are urging residents and businesses to donate as soon as possible to restore the fund and continue meeting urgent local needs.
