Joe Hudson, co-founder of Burnbrae Farms near Lyn, Ont., has been inducted into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame for his contributions to the country’s egg industry and broader agricultural sector. The ceremony was held Saturday at Government House in Victoria, B.C.
Hudson began working with layer hens as a teenager and, alongside his brother Grant, grew Burnbrae Farms into a nationally recognized and internationally respected company. His innovative approach helped shape Canada’s egg industry and supported communities across the country by providing a safe and affordable supply of high-quality eggs.
From humble beginnings with just a few chickens, Hudson’s leadership and vision turned Burnbrae Farms into a household name and a pillar of Canadian agribusiness. The company continues to thrive under the next generation, building on the legacy he established. Hudson was nominated for the Hall of Fame by Egg Farmers of Canada, recognizing decades of impact on agriculture nationwide.
