Gananoque and the surrounding area continue to experience heavy snow and local blowing snow, as Environment Canada’s Yellow Warning remains in effect. An Alberta clipper has brought 10 to 15 cm of additional snow, with reduced visibility making travel difficult. Roads and walkways are accumulating snow, creating challenging conditions for drivers and pedestrians, with a potential significant impact on rush hour traffic. The snow is expected to taper off this evening to scattered flurries or rain showers.
Due to the hazardous conditions, Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario has cancelled all school bus and taxi transportation today. Schools remain open; however, parents and guardians who drive their children to school are reminded to pick them up at their regular dismissal time.
Residents are advised to allow extra travel time, drive cautiously, and prepare for quickly changing conditions. For updates on bus cancellations, delays, and further weather advisories, check the Tri-Board website and Environment Canada reports. Authorities urge everyone to prioritize safety on the roads throughout the day.
