Volunteering has been a lifelong priority for Mary Donevan, who was born and raised in Gananoque and grew up alongside her father, Charlie Donevan, a strong advocate for giving back to the community. From an early age, Mary learned the value of helping others, a lesson that would shape her involvement throughout her life.
Donevan played a key role in helping get Gananoque’s local soup kitchen up and running, an experience she says deepened her understanding of both volunteering and the needs within the community. She credits much of her inspiration to her father, who always placed community service at the top of his priorities.
With the Donevan family also owning nearby Landon’s Bay, Mary says volunteering was never an obligation, but a choice—one the family genuinely wanted to make. That mindset has guided her approach to community involvement over the years.
Through her continued dedication, Donevan hopes to encourage others to step forward and contribute, showing that even small efforts can make a meaningful difference close to home.
