On January 11th Gananoque Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a suspect breaking into an apartment window, entering the residence, and chasing the occupant down the street. Officers located the victim and obtained a warrant for the suspect, who had fled the scene.
On January 17th a 33-year-old individual from Elgin was arrested by a neighbouring police agency and handed over to Gananoque Police. The accused has been charged with Assault – Spousal, Assault Causing Bodily Harm (Choke/Suffocate/Strangle), Theft Under $5,000, and three counts of Failure to Comply with a Release Order.
The individual was held in custody pending a show-cause bail hearing. Police remind residents that anyone with information regarding incidents of this nature is encouraged to come forward to assist in investigations.
