The Gananoque Royals Girls U11C hockey team has capped off a remarkable season by winning the League Championship, showcasing growth, teamwork, and determination.
The Royals advanced past the quarterfinals with two decisive wins over the Gatineau Explosives. In the semifinals, they faced the Gatineau Nitros, prevailing in a dramatic shootout that extended to seven rounds. The championship game saw the Royals score with just 1:20 remaining in the third period and hold off a relentless Brockville team, who pulled their goalie in the final minute, to secure a 1-0 victory.
Coaches praised the players’ hard work, heart, and commitment to each other throughout the season. The Royals now prepare for the Provincials, taking place April 9-12, aiming to extend their unforgettable season on a provincial stage.
