Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for our region today, warning of brief but intense snowfall that could impact travel. Local snow accumulations of 4 to 10 cm are expected, accompanied by heavy snow and blowing snow, which may significantly reduce visibility.
The snowfall is expected to continue into early this afternoon. Officials caution that while accumulation may be moderate, rapidly changing visibility is the main hazard, particularly during the morning commute.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution, allow extra travel time, and monitor weather updates throughout the day. Authorities remind residents that travel may be difficult, and to adjust speed and driving habits as conditions deteriorate.
