The Brass Point Bridge in Seeley’s Bay will be undergoing a full replacement and work has already begun on the historic swing span and fix bridge. We recently spoke with Project Lead Tyler Atkinson about this project and what will be happening.
Atkinson said materials and what is needed for the rehabilitation are in place and gives us a brief timeline as to when it will all be done.
Other than the height of the bridge being increased, the bridge will see minimal changes for everyone who uses it.
The replacement of the bridge will require a full closure to vehicular traffic with detours in place. However marine traffic will not be disrupted. There are plans in place by Parks Canada for Emergency Services to pass through while work continues.
Public consultation will also take place leading up to the work on the bridge.
Final finishing work, including painting of the timber swing bridge, is scheduled for late 2028. This work will require a short-term closure of approximately three weeks to complete the project.
