Environment Canada has issued a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall for our listening area, forecasting heavy and widespread precipitation continuing through today and Thursday morning.
Forecasters say a low-pressure system is bringing rainfall amounts between 30 and 50 millimetres. With the ground already near saturation, officials warn there is limited capacity to absorb additional rain, increasing the risk of surface flooding.
Pooled water is expected on roads and in low-lying areas, and residents are being advised to use caution while travelling. Authorities strongly discourage driving through flooded roadways and caution that washouts may occur near rivers, creeks, and culverts.
Residents are encouraged to monitor conditions closely and stay informed through local updates. For flood-related concerns, officials recommend contacting local conservation authorities or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
