Nominations are now officially open for the 2026 municipal election in both Gananoque and the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands. Residents interested in running for council or mayor are encouraged to step forward and take part in shaping their community’s future.
Candidate packages are now available, and completed nomination papers must be submitted by August 21, 2026. Those running in Gananoque can file their paperwork with the Town Clerk at Town Hall, while candidates in Leeds and Thousand Islands must submit documents at the municipal office on Prince Street in Lansdowne.
Local officials say serving on council is a valuable opportunity to make a difference at the community level, and they’re encouraging residents from all backgrounds to consider putting their names forward.
