The Town of Gananoque is advising residents that spring fire hydrant flushing is now underway as part of routine maintenance to ensure water system reliability and fire protection services.
Work is scheduled to run through Thursday, May 7 at 8 a.m., and will resume Sunday, May 10 at 8 p.m. through Thursday, May 14 at 8 a.m. Crews will be working primarily during evening and overnight hours.
Residents may notice temporary water discoloration while hydrants are being flushed in their area. If this occurs, the town recommends running the cold water tap—preferably at the lowest level of the home—until the water runs clear.
Officials thank residents for their patience during the exercise and remind the public that the work is a standard part of maintaining the municipal water system.
