Community health and social service workers in Leeds and Grenville are warning the Ontario government to address funding shortages and wage concerns or face possible strike action later this month.
“No Board” reports were issued at Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health, Brockville and Area Community Living Association, and Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville. The move starts the countdown toward a potential strike.
In total, 27 agencies represented by OPSEU/SEFPO across Ontario have filed No Board reports. More than 4,500 workers could walk off the job if agreements are not reached.
OPSEU Local 441 is calling on local MPP Steve Clark to secure increased funding for local agencies.
“Our MPP has a clear choice – be a ‘champ’ for these services and our community, or a chump for Doug Ford,” said Local 441 President Lisa Zufelt.
Workers in the region could legally strike beginning May 25 at 12:01 a.m.
