Residents are being advised of updated closures for the Howe Island County-operated ferry dock rehabilitation project as work continues on both the island and mainland terminals.
The next full closure is now scheduled from Tuesday, May 19 at 6 a.m. to Friday, May 22 at 6 a.m. A final planned closure will take place from Monday, May 25 at 10 p.m. to Thursday, May 28 at 2 p.m. The project remains on track for completion in mid-June.
Officials say each closure allows up to 64 hours of work, providing flexibility for weather delays or unforeseen issues. If work finishes early, ferry service will resume ahead of schedule.
The three-car ferry will remain in extended operation during closures, and a detour route will be in place. The island parking area remains closed throughout the project.
The work is a coordinated effort between municipal, county, contractor, and provincial partners.
