An official ground breaking ceremony took place at Carveth Care Centre in Gananoque this past Friday for the new development that is taking place. Minister of Long Term Care Natalia Kusendova-Bashta talked about some of the new features as a result of the construction.
MPP for Leeds Grenville Rideau Lakes and Thousand Islands Steve Clark had high praise for the staff and management at the Care Centre.
Gananoque Mayor John Beddows was also on hand and had this to say.
The four phase project, expected to be competed in 2029, will also support 45 construction jobs and 170 permanent jobs in nursing, personal support work, nutrition services, programming and administration.
This new home is part of the Ontario government’s continued progress toward its commitment to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province, as outlined in the 2026 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario.
Through Ontario’s historic more than $223 billion plan to build, the province is investing in important infrastructure that supports workers, builds strong local economies and ensures people receive the quality of care they need.
