Residents in Leeds and the Thousand Islands will have a chance to get an up-close look at local public works operations during a special “Touch-A-Truck” event today.
The family-friendly event runs from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1233 Prince Street in Lansdowne and is being held in celebration of National Public Works Week.
Visitors are invited to meet operators, explore heavy equipment, and learn more about the work done behind the scenes to keep communities running.
Student tours will take place from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a non-sensory quiet hour from 3 to 4 p.m., before opening fully for hands-on exploration until 6 p.m.
A barbecue fundraiser will also be held, with proceeds supporting local area food banks.
Food items will be available for purchase, and donations of pantry items are encouraged. Admission to the event is free.
