A major infrastructure improvement project is set to begin June 1 in Lansdowne as the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville moves forward with retaining wall construction aimed at improving public safety and slope stability.
The work will take place at the intersection of County Road 3, also known as Prince Street, and County Road 34, or King Street West. Crews will remove the existing stone masonry wall before constructing a new engineered retaining wall in the area.
Officials say the project is expected to continue through July 31, weather permitting.
During construction, the sidewalk along Prince Street will remain closed to pedestrians with no through access available until the work is completed. However, vehicular traffic in the area is not expected to be impacted.
Residents are being encouraged to use caution when travelling near the construction zone and to follow all posted signage.
County officials say the project is an important infrastructure upgrade designed to improve long-term safety and stability in the community.
