Gananoque Council has approved a budget deviation of $972,082 to support renovations at 400 Stone Street North to create additional daycare spaces.
The funding will allow for the completion of construction work needed to expand child care capacity within the community. Following the approval, council also passed a by-law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to enter into an agreement with David J. Cupido Construction Limited for general contracting and renovation services.
Officials say the project is aimed at addressing local demand for childcare and improving access for families in the town.
The renovations will convert and upgrade the existing facility to accommodate more children once completed.
Council members approved the funding as part of ongoing efforts to support community infrastructure and family services in Gananoque.
