A 24-year-old Gananoque man is facing impaired driving charges following an ATV rollover that left a passenger with serious injuries.
Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the single-vehicle collision shortly after 5 p.m. on May 30. The crash occurred on a trail near County Road 2 and Robertson Road outside Gananoque.
Police say a passenger was ejected from the all-terrain vehicle and suffered serious injuries. The individual was transported to a regional trauma centre for treatment. The ATV operator was not seriously hurt.
Following an investigation, police allege the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was more than three times the legal limit.
As a result, Paden Brewster of Gananoque has been charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
Brewster was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Brockville court on July 10. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days pending the outcome of the case.
